What is Pray with Scripture, Meet God?
A free, downloadable resource you may use yourself, with a small group or in your parish!
Pray with Scripture, Meet God was created:
1. to help parishes begin to break the silence, and
2. to propose that it is possible for ordinary Catholics to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pray with Scripture, Meet God is prayer resource designed to be used by individuals or groups. It uses a simple method inspired by lectio divina to guide the user in an encounter with God in Scripture.
How to Pray Each Day
Pray “Lord Jesus, you who are the Son of the living God, teach me to listen to what you tell me in the holy Scriptures, and to discover your face there.”—Guigo II, the Carthusian (ca. 1113-1193)
Read the day’s passage once, slowly.
Take 2-3 minutes to ponder the passage. Note any phrase, word or image that stands out for you.
Read the passage a second time slowly.
Take a few minutes to ponder the passage again. Staying with the text, consider these questions:
Why do you think the words or image stand out the first time?
Is your mind drawn to another part of the text now?
What do you think God is trying to tell you through the text today?
